There are a variety of exciting opportunities to volunteer with Crossroads Community Services.  Please see below for an overview of our programs, our schedules and how you can get involved.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

VOLUNTEER AS A SERVER OR COOK AT CROSSROADS MORNING MEAL PROGRAM

  • We’re looking for cooks to help prepare fresh meals from 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. *

  • We also need serving staff to set tables and serve breakfast from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • The Morning Meal Program operates every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. 

  • No formal training is required.  On-site training will be provided.

 

   * PLEASE NOTE: Our greatest need for volunteer cooks is on Sunday mornings!

BECOME A DINNER HOST AT THE CROSSROADS WOMEN'S SHELTER

  • Dinner Host responsibilities include picking up a hot dinner, pre-arranged with a local restaurant or hotel.

  • You'll help to set the table, then host & serve dinner for the shelter women.  Afterwards, there will be some light clean-up of dinner-related items.

  • Volunteering is available every night of the year from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • On-site training will be provided by experienced volunteers.

 

BECOME AN OVERNIGHT HOST AT THE WOMEN'S SHELTER

  • Overnight hosts will arrive at 6 p.m. and assist the Dinner Host.

  • After dinner, you'll make sure the guests are settled-in comfortably for bed at 9 p.m.

  • Overnight hosts will spend the night in their own private quarters (with a private bathroom and wifi).

  • You'll see the guests off at 5:30 a.m. the next morning (6:30 a.m. on Saturdays).

  • Volunteering is available every night of the year from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (7:00 a.m. on Saturdays)

  • On-site training is provided by experienced volunteers.

 

SET-UP THE STORE AND SORT PRODUCE AT CROSSROADS' PANTRY PROGRAM

  • Volunteering opportunities are available on Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

  • Pantry volunteers help with intake and registration, act as personal shoppers and stock shelves.

  • No formal training is required.

  • We particularly need Spanish-speaking volunteers.

  • Overnight — Women’s Shelter Host (Weeknights, 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.)

  • Overnight — Women’s Shelter Host (Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.)

If you'd like to volunteer with any of Crossroads Community Services' programs, the first step is to attend an hour-long orientation, held at the end of each month (except December).


Our next volunteer orientation is Monday, November 25 at 6 p.m.

 

Orientations are held in the Vestry Room on the second floor at St. Bart’s Church. Enter at 108 East 51st Street and follow the posted signs.
